I’m a runner. Ok, I USED to be a runner.
I started running in 6th grade. I grew up in a sleepy little town in the Pacific Northwest. The local high school track and cross country coach created a “intro to running” program for 7th and 8th-grade kids. It was kinda cool, he wanted to create something fun to get kids interested in the sport of running. He approached me for that program even though I was in 6th grade after I ran the mile in 6 min during PE class one day.
I didn’t have anything else better to do, so decided to run.
I ran and ran and ran, and loved it all through Jr. High. In high school, I kept going and did pretty well especially in cross country.
When I was 16 I recruited Alice Behnke [click], we started dating when I was 16 and she was 14, and well, that was like 25 years ago! We’ve been married for over 20 years, have 4 kids, and have been running together through all of life’s ups and downs ever since!
About 8 years ago I was doing a lot of running, at the peak one year I did 2 marathons, 8 half marathons, and even few 10K and 5K runs. It was pretty awesome.
Then I got pneumonia, I got hit HARD.
I was off my feet and out of my running shoes for about 5 months trying to recover. By the time I was ready to start running again, life had taken over, my job was busier than ever, and things just went downhill for me healthwise. I gained about 50 pounds… Dang man, you know how freaking hard it is to run when you’ve gained 50 pounds!!!!
So this year, I’m back in the game, working it, eating 100% Keto and back at my training. Long term I’ll be writing several eCourses, developing some running specific fitness products, and documenting that journey on social media.
Now’s the time my friends, BACK in the game!
