Age is rarely a sign of relevancy, but more often a sign of wisdom.

I see a situation that is not right. I have witnessed this many times over the years.

Age is rarely a sign of relevancy, but more often a sign of wisdom.

Something is very broken about our culture; we need to fix it.

I see younger people totally disregard the wisdom of older people. I see younger people disrespect the sacrifices and difficulties of life that older people have faced. I see younger people act so foolish, act so cocky, act so; well, frankly stupid.

It’s discouraging, it’s foolish of them, and it’s a truism of our culture.

I see older people totally disregard the knowledge of younger people. I see older people disrespect the challenges and difficulties of life that younger people face. I see older people act so foolish, act so grumpy, act so; well, frankly stupid.

It’s discouraging, it’s foolish of them, and it’s a truism of our culture.

What are we thinking?

Why as young people would we not have more patience for our older generation? Why would we not lean on their extensive life experience? Why are we so darn cocky about what we think we know about life, how it works, relationships, how they work, and the trials and troubles of living life on this earth.

Why as older people would we not have more patience for our younger generation? Why would we not lean on their fresh new perspective on old problems? Why are we so dead set in our ways about life, how it works, relationships, how they work, and the trials and troubles of living life on this earth.

What are we thinking?

It’s time we started to help each other more.

It’s time we started to approach each other with grace. It’s time we admitted we don’t have it all figured out, we aren’t perfect, and just because someone does it differently, doesn’t mean they are foolish, slow, not relevant, or wrong.

I’m not sure what camp you’re in, You might be in both! You might not be this way, of course, there are exceptions, but the vast majority of us are missing out on what could be. Relationships with others in different life seasons that could make a drastic difference in our lives.

I want to fix this problem one relationship at a time, setting one example after another; you with me?

Who do you need to call to have coffee with this week?

Onward,

Chris Behnke
