Generally speaking, we miss it today. We “miss” peace. We miss the opportunity to be “at” peace. Not just with others but with ourselves, with our purpose, our existence.

Let’s face it; we are an anxiety driven society, a guilt driving society.

Fear and anxiety drive everything from what school we attend, to who we marry, to the clothes we wear, and the food we eat. 1 in 5 Americans are taking some kind of “mental illness” drug. This means if you were to drive down a typical street in a typical community, every other house or so would have at least one person taking some form of a “mental illness” drug.

I’m not saying there isn’t a need for such drugs; there is in many cases for sure.

However, culturally we are collectively headed towards a depressed, anxious cliff at full speed with Walgreens on speed dial to help us cope with it.

We need peace.

Not like “world peace” that would be nice, but it’s largely out of our control. I mean inner peace. Peace with life, with your situation with you, are as a person.

I’ve found great peace in a few things, and while not easy to embrace, they have proven to be very simple and effective; know who your maker is, know who you are, and know what your purpose is.

Of course, this is not easy, but it is critical. Discover these things and lean into them, embrace them and work towards them. They will prove, over time, to provide peace, peace through endurance.
