Hurry up, hurry up! I need to freaking relax. I need to take a break, I need to rest.
We often find ourselves deep in the hypocrisy of speeding through rush hour traffic just so we can hurry up and relax, AS FAST AS POSSIBLY PLEASE.
We live in a world of fast-paced, breakneck speed busyness.
We’re deep in it, and we even brag about it.
Beautiful sunset over Crecent Lake Oregon.
You can’t rush the calm. You can’t rush relaxing, thinking, slowing down.
By its very nature, “calmness” can’t be rushed.
That won’t stop us from trying.
Next time you’re headed out of time on a Friday afternoon to get the weekend, or that vacation started, try starting your “relaxing” a few hours early.
Try starting when you get into the car, not when you get to your destination. Inevitably you’ll be stuck in traffic, not where you would like to be just yet, you can’t fix it, no shortcuts, so why not try and enjoy it. The stress of rushing, the frustration of trying to get somewhere at a certain time, it’s senseless and damaging.
Just chill, enjoy yourself where you are and how you are. Don’t try and rush the calm.

Don’t rush the calm.
It’s easy to take a breath, mutter “that was nice” and quickly move past the calm times to “get back to the hustle”
DON’T! Embrace the calm, enjoy the calm. You’ll benefit greatly trust me!
