If you’re going to do anything of importance in this world you’re not going to do it alone. It just takes more than one to make everything work and to accomplish much.

Alice and I hiking in Central Oregon. Find the ONE, you?ll never look back!

As humans, we were designed that way. Despite what some people think, we all, I mean ALL fall short in some areas. We ALL need the those around us to compliment who we are, to fill in the spaces where we lack.

I have read and seen many self-absorbed successful people claim their success is by their own means entirely. Their own skills, their own hard work, their own knowledge.

While it’s true all those “skills, attitudes, and years of persistence” helped get them to that success, it was by far not all that it took to “make it happen.”

The privilege of being born who they are, where they are, and in what time in history. The people around them they learned from, the books they read, the shows they watched the classes they took in school, the lessons they learned on the playground, and the hard reality of life. The people that helped them, the people they took advantage of, the flat out dumb luck they encountered.

All of these things, and countless more made that success possible.

All that to say we need others, we need people around us to prop us up in our weak areas, to look us in the eye and tell us we’re wrong when we’re wrong. We need other humans to share the success and the failures with.

In my life at least, nothing has been more enabling, more meaningful, more empowering than the 25-year relationship I have had with my wife Alice.

We make an incredible team, but we are not alike. Not alike at all.

In fact, we are as different as night and day. This makes for some heated arguments, even the occasional some pretty epic disagreement.

This difference is also why it’s magical. It’s why we are able to do so much more together. She compliments my weaknesses, she enriches my strengths, and I do the same for her.

It’s hard enough to do this life, to do it well, and to accomplish much when you have someone amazing like Alice. I can’t imagine what it would be like without her.

There is nothing more powerful than finding the one, the one that makes you a better person, the one where 1+1=3 really does become a reality.

The math works, trust me. 1+1 CAN = 3.?

Find the one, find the person that makes the difference, and when you do, cherish them, hold on tight, and try not to ever let them go!

They will become your differentiator!
