The top of the mountain is beautiful. The view is fantastic, the clean thin area is invigorating. The sights you can see are breathtaking.

Journeys are not always easy, glamorous, or even all that fun. However, without the journey, there would be no context or appreciation of the destination. Take the journey!

The top of the mountain, is, well frankly incredible.

But is the experience as grand if you take a paved road to the top?

Same view, same air, same sights; different experience.

Yes, it?s still good to experience the mountaintop vistas, it?s worth the trip no doubt, but the victory is so much less grand when you drive to the top vs. CLIMB to the top.

CLIMB struggling each step by each step.

Climbing the mountain is so freaking hard though, there?s pain, there?s danger, there?s struggle. The climb difficult, it?s relentless. You will want to give up, you?ll be scared, you?ll doubt yourself, you?ll question the climb, you?ll challenge the goal, you?ll doubt everything.

However, if you press through, if you continue the journey, if you stay the course and reach the summit you?ll not regret it one bit.

Every single painful step becomes part of the view from the top. Each struggle, each fear overcome, each doubt squashed, become part of the beauty of reaching the summit.

The entire path, no matter how long or how complicated provides context to the summit, the journey is part of the mountain experience, the journey and its fear-inducing elements make the victory of reaching the top so much sweeter.

Sure the drive up on a nice road is convenient, but getting there the slow way, the better way, the ?one step at a time? approach is always the best.

Enjoy the journey despite its ?hardness.? Crush your fears as they come up, look them straight in the face and confront them head-on. Enjoy every single step, and don?t bother looking for shortcuts, the people you meet on the real trail are far better humans than the ?shortcut takers? you find on the big paved road.

Journeys are not always comfortable, glamorous, or even all that fun. However, without the journey, there would be no context or appreciation of the destination. Take the journey!
