There is a serious erosion of standards in our culture. I see a strong effort and successful shift in how people view simple truth.

Throughout man’s existence, the understanding that there are some things that are fact, some things that cannot be debated, and are not open to interpretation was given and assumed fully and without question.

Something happened about 20 – 25 years ago, something not obvious, something few are talking about, but something very dangerous and fundamentally challenging about how our culture views “truth.”

Truth used to be defined as “That which is true or in accordance with fact or reality.”

Today the definition has drifted to something more like “A fact or belief that is accepted as true.”

Often truth is now defined as “A foundational belief of an individual or group of individuals to suit their worldview.”

What? Yea, you read that right. Basically, “what’s true for you is true for you, and what’s true for me is true for me. I won’t mess with your truth if you don’t mess with mine.”

“Big deal” you might say, “why does it matter, if people want to believe something as fact, let them.”

To that I’ll agree, letting someone believe whatever they want is fine, I don’t care at all if you want to believe that Mickey Mouse is real or the government has our best interests in mind. Go for it, believe in crazy stuff, I really don’t care.

However, that’s not whats happening here. As soon we accept someones false truth to be valued as real truth, the same as an actual real truth we are on a slow cooker course to disregarding all truth. Making what is factually accurate a matter of opinion and open for debate. It starts with the black and white lines of right and wrong and begins to blur them.

It doesn’t stop there though, this course ?will continue, removing truth over time until it becomes a systematic breakdown everything, literally the entire world, laws, economy, human rights, even purpose all become non-relevant in a world where “what’s true for you is true for you, and what’s true for me is true for me.

I’m sorry, but if it’s false then it’s just not true.

What’s true is true, and what’s false is false. If the 3rd grader answers 5 to the math problem 2+2 they are incorrect, the TRUTH is their answer is not correct, it’s false. If we start to tell them, that 2+2=5 if they want it to be, we hop on the bus headed down the hill to destruction because “truth” is the very fabric of our world.

It’s easy to let it slip just a little. “why crush the 3rd grader, why hurt their feelings, what does hurt to let them think 2+2+5.”

What it hurts is they are wrong,?if we let them build a foundation on misunderstandings they can and will make up their own reality, they can and will bend the truth to fit their narrative. At which point we have created a future world without rules, boundaries, or purpose. I don’t know about you, but I’m not real excited about being the slow cooked frog to stupid or complacent to realize or care I’m being cooked alive.

Let’s get out of the freaking pot before it’s too late.

Truth is not based on emotion, it’s based on truth alone.
